Join the Seattle Wine Society and winemaker Doug McCrea, Washington’s own “Rhône
Ranger”, on Sunday, December 6, from 1-3pm, for a discussion and taste tour through ten
Rhone varietals, and 15 wines overall. Doug will discuss the unique characteristics of the
three primary vineyard sites supplying fruit to McCrea Cellars (Ciel du Cheval, Boushey
and Sugar Loaf) in terms of soil, micro-climate and suitability for particular Rhône varietals.
He will explain the differing needs of particular varietals, and how each season’s conditions
will enhance or challenge the success of certain grapes. Most importantly, we will taste the results in the glass! Doug has generously offered to provide some barrel samples and older vintages for comparison as well.
Hot and cold appetizers will accompany the wines. This event is limited to SWS members only and to the first 48 registrations. Wines will also be available for purchase following the tasting. You must register in advance and before the limit is reached. No unreserved admissions!
